Complex structures

A significant amount of structural solutions used in Architectural and Civil Engineering fields can present a complex configuration, especially when any of the below is present:

  • Joints

  • Soil-structure interaction, or structure-structure interaction

  • Complex geometries or irregular configurations

  • Dampers or energy dissipators

  • New materials (FRCs, FRPs, SMAs, …)

In these cases, the simplifications usually adopted in structural calculations for common design purposes can lead to results significantly different from the actual structural response.

Iktes offers its experience and knowledge in the behavior of complex structures, and in the definition of adequate techniques to simulate the particularities of every problem in order to:

  • Adequately know the structural response and its most influential parameters

  • Detect the most demanded and vulnerable structural elements

  • Design optimized solutions according to the real response

  • Study the application of new materials and technologies [fiber reinforced concrete, textiles, dampers & disipators, …]
